At Balgowlah Boys campus, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.
Our programs may include:
- school sport, athletics and inter-school competitions
- creative and performing arts groups and showcases- comprehensive Band Program that caters for instrumentalists of all skill levels and tastes, a Concert Band Program and Jazz Program.

Leadership

Our extra-curricular highlights and opportunities
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking.
Balgowlah Boys Campus has a strong tradition of Debating, we have had teams in the Premier's Debating Challenge for at least the last 9 years.
Balgowlah Boys encourages students to get involved in inter-school and intra-school debating as it hones not only analytical skills but creates confidence and self-esteem.
Creative and performing arts
Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves.
They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities. We offer a comprehensive Band Program that caters for instrumentalists of all skill levels and tastes.
The school bands are involved in performances at school assemblies, awards days and showcases, as well as external eisteddfods and festivals.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
We offer a number of opportunities to students to attend school organized camps throughout their schooling journey. Year 7 Camp, Crossroads Camp for Year 11, Balgowlah Boys Ski Trip for Years 9-11 and a Year 12 ski trip.
Hospitality and Food Technology
Our students produce amazing quality catering for the numerous events throughout the school year.
Planning, organzing and providing beverage and food service is all part of the skills practiced and learnt in the classrooms. These skills transfer across a range of industries.
Work placement in an industry related to a chosen course is also an opportunity.
Basketball Program
The Bally Basketball Program is a parent-run sports program for Bally boys Years 7- 10 representing Balgowlah Boys' High School in all competitions. It is in addition to the boys' compulsory school sport.
The program operates entirely through parent volunteers who organize coaching, administration, fundraising and comp.
Our Head Coach is former Sydney Kings Captain, Ben Knight.
Construction
Vocational Education and Training (VET) subject.
Students who successfully complete 13 units of competency will obtain a Certificate II in Construction Pathways.
The students will learn a range of skills including - WHS requirements, sustainably in construction, organise work, planning, using tools, equipment and materials, tiling and bricklaying.
Industrial Technology Multimedia
Our school consistently has students nominated for SHAPE awards.
SHAPE is a NESA-endorsed showcase that recognises the most outstanding student projects from across New South Wales.
In 2025, we have 13 students.
We have a school-run Youtube channel Bally Media - check it out!!
Rowing.
The Bally Rowing Program is inclusive, offering opportunities for every student to participate at the level that matches their interest, ability, and goals.
These experiences and values translate far beyond the boat — into school, friendships, and life.
