First Nations students connecting to Country
Cromer Campus
On Monday 15 June, ten First Nations students from Cromer attended a cultural outing together with students from across the college and other local schools.
Students visited West Head to learn about the importance of continuing culture through a variety of activities. These included hearing from Uncle Laurie, the display of cultural items, interactive boomerang experiences, storytelling, ochre face paint and the visiting at local sites (rock painting and rock carving).
Boundik student Isaac noted "the resonance of Uncle Laurie's story telling was profound, reminding me of the importance of sharing knowledge just like our ancestors did".
Overall, the day was a great success, and students are looking forward to their next cultural outing!
