School years
The school years section helps you get to know the important highlights of your child's learning activities from year to year.
Year 7
Starting high school is a time of new experiences as your child adjusts to a new school, makes new friends and gets used to having different teachers and classrooms for each subject.
Stage 4 courses
In Year 7 the following subjects are studied:
- English
- geography and history (one semester each)
- languages (a semester each of French and Japanese)
- mathematics
- creative arts (a semester each of music and visual arts)
- PDHPE
- science
- technology
- ethos at Manly (EAM) which includes peer support, wellbeing, study skills and early career education programs.

Year 8
This year students continue to study courses, and at the end of the year choose the electives they will study in Years 9 and 10.
Stage 4 courses
In Year 8 the following subjects are studied:
- English
- mathematics
- science
- geography and history (a semester each)
- languages (either French or Japanese)
- music
- PDHPE
- technology
- visual arts.

Year 9
Years 9 and 10 are referred to as Stage 5.
Year 9 is the first year that students study elective subjects. Students also have a range of extra-curricular activities that they can choose to be involved in.

Year 10
Year 10 is an important year of schooling. Students make exciting educational and life choices for the years ahead.

Year 11
The final two years of school are referred to as Stage 6.

Year 12
Year 12 is a busy time for students as they study for the Higher School Certificate and make plans for life after school.
